1991:
Laying the Foundation
The first major attempt at developing a
comprehensive float plan was done by Mr. Vern Jansky of Flotilla 8WR-33-2. The design
placed third
in the 1991 Eighth Western Region Districts "Training Aids Competition".
A condensed version of this original design was
published in the 1994 edition of the "Federal Requirements and Safety Tips
for Recreational Boaters", and has remained essentially unchanged to the

Unprecedented Flexibility and Ease of Use

into the float plan on their computer for later revision or use.
Users now only need to enter information about their vessel one time.
Data related to specific trips can be added or changed as necessary.
The
update also includes new data fields, additional user defined fields, and
new drop-down lists that show all of the available choices for greater ease
of use. The Vessel Type field has
been expanded offering a broader range of recreational vessels to choose
from. The Itinerary section has been
enhanced to improve readability.
Also, each field on the plan has an explanatory “tip” that is displayed when
the user hovers over the field, providing specific guidance on the type of
data that should be entered.
