The "Millennium Edition"
Float Plan has received the following revisions:
-
Both
the full and classroom versions of the float plan have been updated to
reflect our new URLs.
The current revision number is "2007-05-11". You may continue to use
existing copies of the Classroom version for practice preparation. However,
make your students aware that the URL on those copies is
out of date. Current versions of the both plans with the updated URLs
are available for immediate downloading from Float Plan Central. If you will be handing out copies
of the Float Plan and Boating Emergency Guide at a Boating Safety
Exhibit, or Vessel Examination station, be sure to download and use
the new version.
-
Hovercraft vessels are now available in
the Vessel and Propulsion "Type" fields.
-
Two EPIRB types have been removed from the EPIRB
selection list for the following reasons:
a.
Inmarsat E: 1646 MHZ. Float-free, automatically activated EPIRB.
Detectable by Inmarsat geostationary satellite. Recognized by GMDSS.
Currently not sold in the U.S.; however, the Federal Communications
Commission is considering recognizing these devices. This
service ended 12/31/2006.
b.
Class C: VHF ch15/16. Manually activated, operates on maritime
channels only. Not detectable by satellite. These devices
have been phased out by the FCC and are no longer recognized.

Float Plan Central will be moving to
a new U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary server sometime during the next few
months.
As a result of this move, we will have a new address (URL). For
your convenience, we will have a routing page at our old
address that will display the new address and automatically route you to
the new address.
This move will provide us with the
additional space we need to provide the important product and service
enhancements you've requested.
Customers:
Please be prepared to update your Browser's "Favorites" links with Float
Plan Central's new homepage address.
Webmaster's: You will need to
update your Web site's links to Float Plan Central's homepage, Boating
Emergency Guide page, and to the Float Plan if you link to it directly.
I want to thank all of you for your
patience during this important migration period, and I apologize for any
inconvenience it may cause.
Sincerely,
Vern Jansky, BC-AWP
